SAS - Special FX Make-up – Exploring Alternative Applications  - Spring 2023/24

This alternative and practical special effects Make-up course has been designed for aspiring make-up artists aged 12–15, to provide exciting and novel opportunities to explore and extend make-up techniques that play key creative roles in performance, fashion, and various forms of broadcast entertainment. 

This highly tactile course offers a diverse introduction and extension to our existing ‘Special FX Make-up’ course, where students will deepen and widen their knowledge and skills and have fun doing so! This unique special effects course is ideal for young artists who are interested in exploring prosthetic, casualty, and creative fantasy Make-up, and those who have some previous experience but wish to cover new ground and explore new and alternative techniques. 

During the course our young Make-up artists will receive a wide-ranging introduction based on the many diverse methods, applications, and specialist techniques surrounding special effects make-up for media and performance.   
 

With access to our cutting-edge professional make-up studios, students will be expertly led by specialist youth tutor, Julia Carter, who has amassed over ten years of experience stemming from her time teaching BA (Hons) Make-up for Media and Performance at Arts University Bournemouth.
