Aimed at students aged 10-12 years, this exciting new Saturday Art School course adds another dimension to creativity that will allow young learners to explore how to design and generate compelling digital characters.
Starting with fundamental and initial sketch concepts and design ideas, and taking inspiration from the world of animated films, students will be guided in transforming their design concepts using Adobe Photoshop and handy digital imaging tablets. Students will explore what makes a character endearing and engaging, as well as what makes them odious or off-putting, conveying the true character and nature. This understanding will feed into character design to make them realistic and credible.
Using Adobe Photoshop, students will learn about a variety of techniques and tools to aid the creative process, including making selections, use of layers, and how to use different digital brushes and pens for different effects. On completion of the course students will have accomplished creating and refining at least two digitally generated characters to add to their artistic portfolios.
