Lifecycle

Lifecycle displays the eco-work of designer Michelle Brand, alongside poems by Jenny Swan, in response to the works displayed in the exhibition.
Susan Lambert, curator of Lifecycle, states: “Products and poetry present the unseen beauty within throwaway by-products of consumer society, creating a discourse on the perceptions and presumptions surrounding beauty and disgust.” (Consultant to MoDiP, Museum of Design in Plastic situated at the Arts University Bournemouth).
Lambert’s essay places the designs in the context of a modern consumer society and raises questions for the reader about the value of good design and its ability to transform that which we are repulsed by into something remarkably beautiful.
