Crab by the sea

The exhibition Crab by the sea coincided with the 2010 bicentennial of Bournemouth celebrating the connections between experimental architecture and the seaside. Curated by Simon Besson, Crab by the Sea illustrates a period of continuous architectural activity led by professor Sir Peter Cook RA which began in 1953 and is on-going in his CRAB studio space where he works alongside Gavin Robotham.
As an inaugural event to celebrate the opening of the new gallery at the Arts University College Bournemouth Crab by the Sea reinforces the links between thinking and making. By welcoming back a former student whose sideways look at architecture owes much to seaside heritage, reflection is stimulated in Bournemouth’s bicentenary year.
With text by Professor Oren Lieberman which explores the importance of imagination in drawing as a response to our environment, but also as a catalyst towards the transformative.
Published by text+work, TheGallery, The Arts University College Bournemouth 2010 (Now formally known as The Arts University Bournemouth).
