Borderlands

Artists Christian Edwardes and Tom Hall along with writers Lee Mackinnon and Frank Brown present Borderlands; an exhibition that examines boundaries. The text analyses the edge of systems and the hinterland between places and social classifications, opposing in nature the two artists works.

That boundaries can be physical as well as verbal is explored in the interplay between personal narrative and statistical fact, solid form and conceptual suggestion. Edwardes’ and Hall’s works are forced together to deal with the notion of the reaction to difference.


The publication includes an informative essay Postcode Warfare in Contemporary Urban Britain by Frank Brown who looks objectively at social boundaries. This is complemented by Lee Mackinnon’s Landings: a wholly subjective and narrated exploration of the same topic.
